Location: Based on the eastern shores of nipaluna/Hobart in lutruwita/Tasmania – On-site role with outreach across Southern Tasmania
Salary: $44.78 - $48.99ph + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550
About the program
headspace Eastern Shore (12-25) and headspace Early Psychosis is a youth and family-friendly mental health service for young people (15–25) experiencing or at risk of psychosis. Our multidisciplinary team delivers evidence-based, recovery-focused care, supporting young people and their families through assessment, intervention, and ongoing support. The MATT and CCT teams provide assertive outreach, crisis management, and intensive engagement, helping young people build resilience and hope for the future.
Your role, your impact
As a Vocational Specialist, you’ll walk alongside young people as they navigate employment and education pathways. You’ll provide tailored support to help them build confidence, secure meaningful work, and maintain long-term participation in vocational activities. Working within a collaborative team, you’ll connect with employers, co-design career plans, and advocate for young people’s strengths, making a real difference in their lives.
Provide centre-based and outreach support to young people aged up to 25 experiencing mental health challenges
Co-design career profiles and employment plans with young people, incorporating clinical input
Support young people to secure and sustain employment or vocational education
Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create job opportunities
Assist with job applications, interview preparation, and employer outreach
Deliver post-placement support to ensure long-term success
Collaborate with clinical staff and external services to enhance vocational outcomes
Present at clinical meetings and deliver workshops to promote the vocational program
Liaise with employment services such as DES and jobactive providers
Stay informed on policy developments that impact young people’s employment pathways
Participate in supervision and contribute to continuous quality improvement
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Experience supporting young people with mental health challenges
Knowledge of employment services, vocational rehabilitation, or career development
Strong communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills
Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
A compassionate, proactive approach to helping young people thrive
You’ll also need:
Tertiary qualifications including relevant professional registration as required and/or experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, career development or a related field.
A current state-based driver’s licence
