The Role

We are currently seeking motivated and experienced Cooks to join our growing team and help us expand our business. As an integral member of the Beyond Broome team, you will play a critical role in delivering top-tier hospitality services, contributing to our success, and helping create memorable experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ingredient Selection and Preparation
Select and prepare fresh ingredients daily to ensure quality, freshness, and suitability for cooking.

2. Cooking and Food Monitoring
Marinate, grill, roast, and cook proteins using appropriate techniques according to established recipes. Monitor cooking processes to ensure proper texture, flavour, and presentation.

3. Operation of Kitchen Equipment
Operate and monitor kitchen equipment including grills, ovens, and toasters. Ensure correct temperatures, usage, and safe handling.

4. Hygiene and Maintenance
Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment by sanitising tools, equipment, and surfaces in line with food safety regulations. Promptly report equipment faults and assist in routine maintenance.

5. Inventory Management
Track stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies and managing stock orders. Store food items in temperature-controlled environments to prevent spoilage.

6. Teamwork and Staff Support
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations. Provide guidance and support to junior staff or apprentices, maintaining consistent food preparation standards.

7. Menu and Recipe Development
Contribute to the development and improvement of menu items by suggesting new fillings, condiments, or preparation methods based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.

8. Special Dietary Requirements
Prepare dishes to meet specific dietary needs while adhering strictly to hygiene and safety procedures.

Requirements

1. Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery are highly regarded.

2. Skills: Solid knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, food safety and hygiene practices.

3. Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen is required. Prior experience in Vietnamese or Korea BBQ restaurant is highly regarded.

4. Physical stamina: Capable of standing for extended periods and managing the physical demands of a busy, fast-paced kitchen environment.

5. Attention to Detail: Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food presentation.

6. Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive problem-solving abilities to address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and effectively. The capacity to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.

7. Organizational Skills: Strong time management and multitasking skills. Capable of prioritising tasks, coordinating kitchen resources, and meeting deadlines during peak service hours.

8. Communication Skills: Clear and effective communicator with team members, management, and occasionally customers.

9. Adaptability: Flexible with work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Comfortable adjusting to changing operational needs.

10. Industry Knowledge: Understand of hospitality industry trends, particularly in the Western Australia region, is advantageous.
