About the Position
Working within our Development Services Team, the Coordinator Strategic Planning will provide advice and support the Manager Development Services and coordinate the Strategic Planning team to undertake various tasks associated with the development, monitoring and review of the local planning framework. Responsibilities include applying complex or high level knowledge and skills to strategic planning projects, project manage relevant strategic planning projects and to advise, guide and provide technical information and support to Elected Members, other Planning Officers, Council Staff and customers.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legislative planning framework in Western Australia.
- Proven ability to think strategically, analyse situations and develop innovative solutions to complex problems with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience in leading community engagement and stakeholder management strategies.
- Well-developed leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach and develop staff.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Extensive wide-ranging experience in Urban Planning in a Local Government environment.
- A current National Police Clearance
