Position Overview
We are seeking a Draftsperson with expert-level skills in Autodesk Inventor and Recap to support ongoing capital projects in our PVC extrusion pipe operations. The role is focused on producing accurate machine drawings, 3D modelling of plant layouts, and maintaining documentation for all services. The successful candidate will work closely with fabricators, project engineers, and contractors to deliver high-quality outputs.
This position will start as a temporary part-time role (3 days per week) but may transition into a permanent full-time position once the candidate is familiar with our operations and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Produce 2D and 3D machine drawings for PVC extrusion plant projects, including silos, handling systems, pipework, service upgrades, and capital equipment installations.
Create 3D models and detailed drawings of mechanical plant and equipment using Autodesk Inventor (expert-level).
Use Autodesk Recap to integrate 3D scans and develop accurate plant models.
Prepare detailed drawings, schedules, and documentation packages for manufacturing machinery and processes.
Review and improve existing drawings, templates, and processes.
Prepare layout assemblies, detail drawings, and bills of materials, ensuring compliance with technical and manufacturing requirements.
Update and maintain plant models to reflect all services, including electrical, water, compressed air, and gas.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure design feasibility and timely delivery.
Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure accurate execution of designs.
Finalise electrical and mechanical drawings after project completion.
Prepare as-built documentation and maintenance manuals in line with Australian Standards.
Source and specify sustainable materials, finishes, and costing that align with project requirements.
Champion sustainability through material choices and energy-efficient design practices.
About You
Autodesk Inventor and Recap expert (non-negotiable).
5+ years’ mechanical drafting experience.
Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting (or equivalent).
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D; Revit experience an advantage.
Experience drafting and modelling in manufacturing plant or heavy industrial environments.
Work history in structural and manufacturing product design.
Strong understanding of manufacturing environments, with a high regard for safety, confidentiality, and design integrity.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to discuss product specifications clearly.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Ability to prioritise and adapt to a changing environment.
Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation.
Familiarity with Australian Standards for drafting, project documentation, and maintenance manuals.
