HSR Southern Cross is seeking a skilled Draftsperson / Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this key role, you will be responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D CAD engineering drawings and models for truck-mounted waste equipment. You will also play a critical part in revising and improving existing designs, as well as preparing operational and spare parts manuals. Additionally, you will ensure that all designs adhere to safety and performance standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

Create accurate 2D and 3D CAD models utilizing software such as Inventor and AutoCAD.

Conduct structural and mechanical analysis to verify that designs meet safety and performance standards.

Work closely with the Manufacturing & Fitting Departments to troubleshoot technical challenges and optimize the manufacturing process.

Maintain up-to-date and well-organized technical documentation and design specifications.

Participate in ongoing efforts to enhance design and production processes through continuous improvement initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Drafting or equivalent.

Proficient in Inventor & AutoCAD.

Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.

Ability to work efficiently & effectively as an individual and within a team, with excellent communication abilities.

Familiarity with Australian regulations and design standards for commercial vehicles.

Proven minimum 3-years’ experience in drafting, ideally within the automotive or commercial (over 4.5T GVM) vehicle industries.

Keen attention to detail with a proactive approach getting the job done.
