About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Equipment Technician to join our team on a full-time permanent basis (38 hours/week). The successful candidate will install, inspect, maintain, and repair fire protection systems, ensuring fire detection and suppression equipment operates reliably and in compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Install fire protection equipment, including fire dampers, smoke dampers, fire and smoke seals, fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, sprinkler systems, and detection systems in commercial and industrial settings.

Inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems in accordance with AS1851, NFPA standards, and manufacturer specifications.

Perform repairs, adjustments, or replacements to maintain system functionality.

Apply fire-resistant sealants and insulation around penetrations and dampers.

Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, maintenance, and compliance documentation.

Work safely in confined spaces, ceilings, and duct systems.

Collaborate with team members, clients, and authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.

Skills & Experience

Hands-on experience installing, inspecting, and maintaining fire protection systems.

Knowledge of fire dampers, seals, extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, sprinkler, and detection systems.

Understanding of Australian Standards (AS1851), NFPA 80 & 105, and local building codes.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation instructions.

Mechanical skills for installation, adjustment, and minor fabrication.

Strong attention to safety, problem-solving, and time management.

Good communication skills for reporting and liaising with clients.

Qualifications

Certificate III or IV in Fire Protection, or equivalent.

FPAS accreditation or willingness to obtain preferred.

Relevant trade or technical experience in fire protection systems.
