AFlash Fire is a growing fire protection services company operating across the Sydney Metro area. We are seeking an experienced Electrician and/or Dry Fire Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. This role offers a mix of service work, fit-outs, and construction projects throughout Sydney. If you have a strong background in electrical installations and fire protection systems and are looking for a new challenge, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Service & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, testing, and fault-finding on fire detection and alarm systems across various client sites. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on fire indicator panels, smoke detectors, emergency warning systems, and related equipment, ensuring systems remain compliant and functional.

Installations & Fit-Outs: Install and commission fire protection electrical systems for new constructions and interior fit-out projects. This includes wiring and fitting of fire alarm panels, detectors, sirens, emergency lighting, and associated components according to Australian standards and project specifications.

Repairs & Upgrades: Respond to service calls to repair or replace faulty fire system components. Identify necessary remedial works during inspections and assist in preparing quotations or recommendations for system upgrades and ensure minimal downtime and high reliability of all fire safety equipment.

Compliance & Testing: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant Australian Standards (such as AS1851 for routine service and AS1670 for system installation) and local fire safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities as required for regulatory compliance and client reporting.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, other technicians, and to deliver integrated fire protection solutions. Follow safety protocols and contribute to a positive, safe work environment. Occasionally provide on-call support for urgent after-hours issues (with applicable overtime or call-out allowances).

Desired Qualifications & Experience

Trade Qualification (Favourable): Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) or similar trade qualification. A current NSW electrical licence (qualified supervisor or contractor) is highly regarded but not essential.

Fire Systems Expertise: Proven experience (ideally 3+ years) working with dry fire protection systems – such as fire alarm panels, smoke detection systems, EWIS/BOWS (Emergency Warning & Intercom Systems / Building Occupant Warning Systems) – including installation, testing, commissioning, and repairs. Candidates with dual experience in both electrical and fire system roles will be highly valued.

Knowledge of Standards: Solid understanding of Australian fire safety standards and codes (e.g. AS1851 for maintenance, AS1670 for system installation)au.indeed.com. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications for electrical and fire systems in construction projects.

Licences & Certifications: Valid White Card (Construction Induction) and a current driver's licence are required for site work and travel. Additional tickets such as EWP (Elevated Work Platform) licence or cabling licenses are a plus.

Accreditations (Favourable): Accreditation under the Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS) and/or as a Fire Safety Assessor (FSA) is highly regarded but not mandatory. Candidates who are not yet accredited but willing to obtain these certifications will have support – we value a commitment to professional development in fire safety.

Skills: Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills in electrical circuits and fire systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients and team members. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team, managing time and tasks effectively across multiple job sites. A strong focus on safety and attention to detail is essential.

Work Rights: Candidates must possess valid Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.
