Role Overview
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate processing and reporting of financial information.
This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal controls while also driving process improvements and supporting business operations.
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, the role works closely with internal stakeholders, including the Financial Controller, FP&A team, and other support teams, while also liaising externally with auditors, banks, and government departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely delivery of financial reports including balance sheet, cash flow, and operational finance reporting
- Prepare and maintain general ledger reconciliations, revenue deferral schedules, lease accounting (AASB16), and make-good calculations in line with accounting standards
- Support statutory and management reporting, including half-year and annual reporting requirements for the external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and related legislation
- Provide technical accounting guidance to internal teams and departments as required
- Oversee supplier invoice and PO reconciliations, including adjustments for write-offs
- Manage cashflow planning, banking compliance, and term deposit schedules
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement process and system enhancements (Dynamics 365)
- Contribute to FBT submissions, internal controls, and finance-related projects
Candidate Profile
- CA/CPA qualified with strong technical accounting knowledge
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within medium to large organisations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Strong understanding of statutory requirements, accounting standards, and compliance frameworks
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
