The opportunity has now arrived to join our Property Operations team.

The Lodge Wadjemup is the newest addition to the Hospitality and Tourism industry here in Western Australia and in just a few short months has already been listed as one of Time Magazine's World's Greatest Places for 2025. We're excited for our first full summer on Western Australia's most loved holiday and tourism destination, Rottnest Island.

Reporting to our Property Operations Manager, you'll help to deliver an amazing experience for our guests to ensure they leave more relaxed than when they arrived by ensuring our beautiful new resort works smoothly and efficiently.

This role is paid under the Hospitality Industry General Award - Level 3 Handyperson.

Island Living: This is a Live On island role with a comfortable, air-conditioned private bedroom in our Accommodation Village for a very low weekly rent that covers all utilities.

Tasks and Responsibilities include:

Receiving Deliveries

Acceptance of deliveries of orders and supplies.

Verification of delivery contents against purchase orders.

Alerting the Purchasing Supervisor of order arrival.

Assisting with transfer and storage.

2. General Maintenance

Performing routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaks, and minor repairs.

Carrying out preventative maintenance as directed by Management.

Maintaining and organising tools and equipment.

3. Painting and Repairs

Conducting painting tasks, including touch-ups and larger painting projects.

Performing minor carpentry and plumbing repair work around the premises.

Addressing and assisting to fix any structural or aesthetic issues that arise.

4. Facility Upkeep

Ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of all resort areas.

Vegetation tidying/pruning, weeding, sweeping and pressure cleaning.

Rubbish removal.

Assisting with operational setup and breakdown as needed.

5. Guest Services

Replace or repair any room items or assets as requested.

What you'll need to have:

Previous experience in a similar Handy Person role, ideally within a hotel or licensed venue environment

Solid understanding of Safe Work practices and WHS regulations

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and guests

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
