Position overview

The Space Weather IT Operations team within the Application Operational Services section is accountable for providing 24x7 critical ongoing support and preventative maintenance for applications supporting Space Weather products and services. We aim to deliver an exceptional customer experience for our colleagues and customers by providing specialised expertise and support.

The occupant of this position will join a team of experienced IT professionals responsible for development, configuration, deployment and support of a diverse range of applications supporting the Australian Space Weather Forecast Centre and space weather customers. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in supporting applications in a Linux/Unix-like environment. Highly desirable skills include web application development and support, PHP, Apache, Javascript and APIs as well as knowledge of Amazon Web Services. A basic understanding of testing methodologies and dev ops practices will also be highly regarded.

Excellent technical analysis, problem solving, communication and teamwork skills are required, as well as flexibility and a willingness to learn new technologies. The occupant will be involved with interactions with application and system vendors as well as other technical teams and forecasting experts across the Bureau.
