AustCorp Executive is working in partnership with an expanding engineering and fabrication business. The company specialises in delivering fixed plant, structural steel, and SMP packages to support major projects across the mining and resources industry.

The role we are recruiting is an Estimating Manager. To lead the pre-contract and estimating function. This is a senior position that will see you manage the estimating team and take ownership of end-to-end bid development for major mining and infrastructure projects.

The Role

• Manage and mentor the estimating team, overseeing bid submissions from initial enquiry through to final tender.
• Liaise directly with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tendering process.
• Compile and prepare first-principles estimates, tonnage rates, and norm-based pricing.
• Review scope documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate and compliant cost estimates.
• Identify and clarify inclusions, exclusions, and commercial assumptions.
• Support negotiations with clients and suppliers during the tender and award phase.
• Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure seamless handover and execution planning.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of tender systems, templates, and workflows.

The Requirement

• Trade or tertiary qualification in engineering (fabrication, mechanical, structural) or significant hands-on fabrication/project experience.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in estimating within the heavy fabrication or SMP (structural, mechanical, piping) sectors.
• Demonstrated background in mining fixed plant construction, maintenance, or infrastructure-based projects.
• Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail in bid preparation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience using estimating software or industry-standard tools. Familiarity with STRUMIS is advantageous but not essential.
