Your new role

As Principal Strategy Lead, you will take ownership of strategic programs that directly influence the organisation's future direction and funding. This is a high-impact, hands-on role focused on developing multiple government business cases for submission to Treasury, with a strong emphasis on financial modelling and stakeholder engagement.

You will:

• Lead the design, drafting, and structuring of complex business cases, aligning with government priorities and funding requirements.
  
• Build and evaluate financial models using Excel to support long-term strategic planning and investment decisions.
  
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance, legal, HR, and project teams to gather requirements and identify key dependencies.
  
• Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on service improvements, risks, and program interdependencies.
  
• Facilitate workshops and presentations to influence, educate, and align stakeholders throughout the strategy lifecycle.
  
• Maintain awareness of relevant legislation, policy obligations, and industry trends to inform evidence-based decision-making.
  
• Work closely with a Principal Business & Financial Analyst, forming a strategic partnership to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  
• Operate autonomously, with the freedom to shape your approach while being supported by a collaborative leadership team.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in government business case development, ideally within state or federal government.
  
• Strong financial acumen and advanced Excel modelling skills.
  
• Background in management consulting, finance, or project management (PRINCE2 knowledge advantageous).
  
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  
• Politically neutral stance and a satisfactory criminal record check.
