HR Officer – Part Time (Permanent, 3 days a week)

We’re looking for a motivated and people-focused HR professional to join our team at Melbourne River Cruises. This is a permanent, part-time role (3 days per week) that’s perfect for retirees or experienced professionals seeking work–life balance while continuing to apply their strong knowledge of people management.

About the Role
You will play a key role in supporting our operations and people practices. Reporting directly to management, you’ll help us maintain a positive workplace culture and ensure smooth day-to-day HR processes.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with payroll support and maintaining accurate employee records

Coordinating recruitment processes – advertising roles, shortlisting, scheduling interviews

Supporting onboarding and induction of new staff

Advising on and helping implement HR policies and best practices

Assisting with staff training and compliance records

Supporting with rosters, contracts, and general HR administration

Being a friendly and approachable point of contact for staff

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in HR, payroll, or people management

Strong communication and organisational skills

A practical, hands-on approach with attention to detail

Ability to work independently while being part of a small team

Knowledge of Australian workplace standards and compliance
