The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Manager of Estimation, the Electrical Estimator will be responsible for the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially sound cost estimates for a variety of electrical projects.

This role will play a critical part in securing strategically important work, mentoring junior estimators, and enhancing estimating processes across the business.

You will be a subject matter expert in electrical estimating, capable of assessing detailed drawings and specifications, identifying risks, engaging with stakeholders, and delivering quality tender submissions on time. Your expert knowledge will ensure that bids are competitive, compliant, and aligned with Avid’s strategic growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

End-to-end estimating process for a variety of electrical projects

Analyse project documentation to determine scope, materials, and cost breakdowns

Develop and maintain electrical cost databases, benchmarking tools, and rate libraries

Collaborate with project, engineering, electrical, fabrication, and fit-out teams for accurate pricing and delivery scheduling

Oversee preparation of comprehensive cost estimates, including direct and indirect costs

Provide input into tender strategies, risk assessments, and value engineering opportunities

Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness

Mentor and support junior estimators in their professional development

Ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and internal procedures

Key Requirements:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical estimating.

Experience within electrical manufacturing environments essential, knowledge of switch-boards and modular switchboard rooms an advantage

Degree or trade qualification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline

Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, and industry standards

Proven ability to deliver multiple tenders under tight deadlines

High-level analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite

Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills
