Undergrad Accountant / Administration Assistant (Part-Time)

Location: Milton, Brisbane (close to Park Road restaurants and public transport)

Hours: Part-time (20 - 30 hours per week)

Ideal for: 1st or 2nd year accounting students seeking hands-on industry experience

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated undergrad accountant to join our team on a part-time basis (20 - 30 hours per week) while completing their degree.

We focus on developing the technical and other fundamental skills of all team members by providing on-the-job training and mentoring.

The role will provide a strong grounding in tax, accounting and administration principles and would be perfect for gaining Australian public accounting practice experience.

As the first point of contact for our clients, the successful applicant will be enthusiastic, mature-minded, responsible and well presented. Previous office experience in a similar role will be highly regarded, however all outstanding applicants will be considered.

Reporting to the Administration Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Reception duties, including answering telephone calls, greeting clients and providing refreshments

General office duties, including processing mail, banking, filing, archiving, photocopying, scanning and running errands

Assisting clients with general enquiries

Sorting and distribution of mail

Processing Accounts payable and Accounts receivable

Liaising with the ATO including preparation of general correspondence in relation to income tax, PAYG & GST matters

Attending to company secretarial compliance matters

Processing of invoices and lodgment of tax returns (using Xero Practice Manager)

Assisting with client database management

Assisting with coordination of travel, functions, training events and catering

Maintenance of kitchen and meeting rooms as required

Ad hoc tasks upon request

ABOUT YOU

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

A positive, “can-do” attitude and willingness to perform general office duties

Current enrolment in an accounting or related degree

Previous reception or administration experience (advantageous)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Eagerness to learn new tasks and software

Strong computer skills, including touch-typing and proficiency with Microsoft Office

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Willingness to follow established systems and procedures

Knowledge of Xero (advantageous, but not essential)

Australian work rights (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa)

Full training will be provided on our systems and procedures, making this an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in your chosen field.
