The AO6 Senior Advisor (Policy) will be an integral part of a dynamic team, developing strategic and operational policies to advance Queensland's passenger transport services. This role involves a variety of tasks, necessitating adaptability and responsiveness to rapidly changing priorities to achieve positive results promptly.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Working autonomously or as part of a team on policy related projects and tasks to deliver improved passenger transport outcomes.
• Undertake specialised research and analysis relating to regulatory, safety, accessibility and school transport issues within the context of passenger transport services in Qld and develop options and provide recommendations in developing new and reviewing existing policies.
• Interpret and apply legislation for passenger transport related issues and consider work within the legislative framework when developing policy.
• Prepare documents and correspondence that provide advice or information on complex issues to the Government, other departmental staff, and members of the public as required.
• Build, maintain and support internal and external relationships to ensure stakeholders are engaged and consulted appropriately.
• Use stakeholder management skills to communicate, negotiate, liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders to deliver passenger transport policy outcomes.
• Support the coordination of stakeholder reference groups and forums by assisting with secretariat functions, including promotional and governance activities, coordinating meetings (including developing the agenda), and disseminating information.

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate skills and experiences in the following areas:
• Experience in policy research, development and analysis and interpreting legislation.
• Ability to provide strategic, evidence-based and outcome-focused policy advice.
• Experience translating complex topics into clear communication for various audience.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skill.
• A background drafting diverse governmental documents.
