Specsavers Launceston is Tasmania’s largest Optometry Practice. On any given day we have a team of over 20 professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional eye care. We’re looking for new team members to join our dynamic and supportive workplace.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have full-time positions available, with competitive pay aligned with the Retail Award Wage. We also offer part-time and casual roles for the right candidate.

✔ Availability Requirements: Candidates must be available every second Saturday and during busy periods over summer.

✔ Full-time or part-time roles are ideal for those seeking a career in Optics. Casual roles are a great fit for university students who can increase their hours during summer.

This is a customer-facing role in a fast-paced retail environment, where you’ll be assisting patients and ensuring they receive outstanding service. Retail experience is preferred but not essential, as we provide comprehensive on-site training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting patients with optical screening tests

Helping our patients choose glasses and contact lenses (optical dispensing)

Fitting and repairing glasses

Handling basic administrative tasks

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking patient-focused individuals who are confident, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a high-performance team. Candidates require the ability to adapt to a busy retail environment, with constant interaction and relationship-building with patients and staff.

Ideal candidates will have:

✅ Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new IT systems
✅ A friendly, professional approach to customer service
✅ A high standard of professionalism and personal presentation
✅ The ability to work effectively within a team
✅ Availability to work every second Saturday
✅ A desire to build a career in Optics (especially for full-time and part-time roles)

For Full-time staff, we are specifically looking for candidates interested in long-term career growth within the optical industry, including enthusiasism for additional paid training opportunities (e.g., Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing).
