About the role

Neighbourhood Care is now supporting people in Gympie, so we are looking for an experienced & compassionate female Support Worker! This is a casual position to start, with the hope that, once trust is established with our client, the role will become permanent. You will provide high-quality care and assistance to our client, who is a younger woman with autism, living with her family. You are a great listener, respectful of others & wanting to understand how best to support this woman in a way that meets her needs. As an Experienced Support Worker, you will play a vital part in our mission to support the local community.

What you'll be doing

Working independently at first, with support from our crew in Brisbane, you will provide support to our client & take care of some administrative tasks associated with that, like developing client support plans, working with her to identify an ideal roster of support, identifying & solving problems with the client & her family.

Getting to know this client and her family and ensuring you deliver supports in a way that is safe and effective, and meets her needs.

Providing personalised support including light housekeeping, supported decision making, companionship, transporting to and from appointments, social activities and community events, showing interest in and growing special interests, ensuring her comfort and safety

Collaborating with the client, her family, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised care plans

Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements to ensure the highest standards of care.

What we're looking for

Someone who wants to provide support to clients from within a team, with greater autonomy & responsibility for client outcomes & is willing to learn new things

Relevant qualifications in Aged Care, Disability Support, or a related field

Preferred minimum of 2 years' experience as a Support Worker, with a demonstrated track record of providing exceptional care

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients, team- mates & others

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think critically and respond to changing client needs

A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to enhancing the lives of our clients

A current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle

Can work with our client in Gympie with some travel to Brisbane.
