Who we are:
The Occupational Therapist will be based in the Waag Wagga Mental Health Inpatient Units. The inpatient units are committed to providing recovery orientated and innovated approached to care. They recognise consumers with mental health issues as experts in their own condition and strive to provide an optimistic, holistic and positive approach to care with a focus on collaborative decision making and social inclusion.
The Occupational Therapist will be responsible and accountable to the Acute MH Inpatient Unit Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team. Within this role, the successful candidate would have access to supervision from the Allied Health Manager, alongside the Senior Occupational Therapist within the wider Mental Health Inpatient Units Allied Health Team. The Occupational Therapist will be actively involved in the development and provisions of a broad range of structured activities and rehabilitation programs, with additional responsibilities around Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention.
What you’ll be doing:
Delivering high quality recovery services to consumers in accordance with the ethics and standards established by AHPRA for Occupational Therapists. The Occupational Therapist will provide professional recovery-oriented services to both consumers and families/carers through interventions such as:
psychosocial assessment
identification of goals
motivational interviewing
guidance and support to achieve goals
the provision of information
referral and advocacy
group program design, implementation, facilitation and evaluation
Criteria:
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
A recognised degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
