Who we are:
Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and passionate person who is ready for a new adventure. As a member of the Allied Health team, you will be based in the Wagga Wagga Mental Health Recovery Unit, a 20 bed sub-acute mental health facility. The unit is primarily targeted at consumers aged 18-65 years. Within this role you will be able to provide, plan and deliver comprehensive, high quality patient care within our Mental Health Recovery Unit. Within the Mental Health Recovery Unit, you will be required to facilitate psychoeducational groups within the scheduled program and additionally support consumers with their personal recovery goals. The successful applicant will work alongside our Senior Social Worker and Senior Occupational Therapist, as well as a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
About the role:
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join us in this crucial role in the Mental Health Recovery Unit, providing recovery orientated and innovated approaches to care. You will be joining a dynamic multidisciplinary team offering a unique recovery-orientated service within the 20 bed mental health setting. You’ll also be connected to the Mental Health Allied Health team across the Inpatient Units. Within the role, you will be provided direct support from both the Mental Health Allied Health Manager, senior Allied Health staff. The unit recognises consumers with mental health concerns as experts in their own condition and strives to provide an optimistic, holistic and positive approach to care with a focus on collaborative decision making and social inclusion.
What you’ll be doing:
Delivering high quality recovery services to consumers in accordance with the ethics and standards established by the Australian Association of Social Workers and AHPRA for Occupational therapists. The Social Worker or Occupational Therapist will provide professional recovery-oriented services to both consumers and families/carers through interventions such as:
psychosocial assessment
identification of goals
motivational interviewing
guidance and support to achieve goals
the provision of information
referral and advocacy
group program design, implementation, facilitation and evaluation
Criteria:
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
A recognised degree or equivalent in Social Work and eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or a recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
