Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), Community Mental Health Wagga Wagga is looking for a motivated and skilled Adult Mental Health Clinician. In this role you will be responsible for delivering holistic, person-centred and trauma-informed care to people with complex mental health needs. You will be working closely with their families and carers. You will be collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan and deliver comprehensive, mental health care to the regional community of Wagga Wagga and surrounds.
This recruitment may be used to create an eligibility list for similar roles coming up over the next 18 months.

About the role:
The focus is on adults with acute, complex or high needs and who may be difficult to engage in effective treatment and support.
Identified outcomes are:
Improved support for families and carers of people experiencing severe mental illness
Our priority populations include people who identify and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, who identify as LGBTIQ+, are experiencing social and/or economic disadvantage, are at risk of withdrawing from usual activities and supports, who have experienced trauma, or who are at risk of hospitalisation.

About Wagga Wagga Community Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (CMHAOD)
The Wagga Wagga CMHAOD team is the largest of six CMHAOD teams across Murrumbidgee LHD. The CMHAOD team has approximately 18 multidisciplinary clinicians and a range of additional staff including an Aboriginal Mental Health Trainee, Peer Worker, Support Worker and a Family and Carer Support Worker. We also have Psychiatrists who are part of our team and see consumers across clinics each week. Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Services are provided across the life span from the Health Services Hub on the campus of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.
We work closely with many community organisations including Medicare Mental Health, Grand Pacific Health, Headspace and Wellways, to ensure people receive the right care for their needs. At a district level we have access to clinical leaders for MH, AOD and other specialty services such as Aboriginal Mental Health, eating disorders and Perinatal Infant Mental Health.

About You
Our ideal candidate will:
- Successful therapeutic engagement with adults experiencing, or at risk of deterioration of, a severe mental illness.
- Better experience of care through integrated and coordinated service models
- Prevention of unnecessary hospitalisations through timely access to appropriate and targeted clinical care
- Active use of a multiagency care plan for adults with, or at risk of, severe and complex mental illness, to help link providers across multiple services involved in their care
- Be a confident / conscientious team player whose values align with NSW Health Core values – Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment
- Have an in-depth understanding and ability to provide Youth Mental Health services in a curious and empathetic way
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism with ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team
- Have sound communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be able to manage and prioritise a diverse workload
- Hold a relevant Australian qualification as a Counsellor, Psychologist, Social Worker or Registered Nurse, or must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field e.g. community welfare, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
