Coogee Surf Life Saving Club is seeking a Functions Manager to oversee the operations, administration, staffing, and client engagement for our Ocean Room – a premium venue for weddings, corporate events, and community functions.

Key Responsibilities

Venue Operations: Manage bookings, liaise with clients and caterers, coordinate setup and logistics, and ensure compliance with licensing and safety regulations.

Marketing & Strategy: Develop off-peak marketing strategies, update promotional materials, and monitor competitor offerings.

Administration: Oversee invoicing, POS systems, bar stock, banking, and facility maintenance.

Staff Management: Recruit, train, roster, and supervise functions staff, ensuring high standards and smooth operations.

Client Engagement: Be the first point of contact for all enquiries, conduct site visits, and provide tailored support to hirers.

Reporting: Maintain monthly and annual financial reports, stock analysis, and asset registers.

About You

Proven experience in hospitality, event management, or venue operations.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Ability to manage budgets, staff, and multiple stakeholders.

Comfortable working flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

RSA certification and familiarity with liquor licensing requirements.

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.
