About the Role

Joining our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team, you will provide support 5 people with disability living in shared housing in Kirrawee who enjoy watching planes at the airport, going to Darkes Forest to see horses and swimming!

The people you will be supporting require a range of support and so, successful candidates must be experienced and confident in working within a varied environment which may include high behaviours of concern (including high volume swearing), high medical needs, high intensity daily personal activities and heavy hoisting and manual handling.

The successful candidate must be able to commit one of the set permanent part time rosters below:

  • Week 1: Mon 4:30-8:30pm, Tue 1-7pm and Sun 1 - 5:30pm
  • Week 2: Mon 6am - 2pm, Tue 4:30-8:30pm and Thu 6-9:30am
  • Week 1: Mon 1- 7pm and Tue 6-9:30am
  • Week 2: Mon 1 -7pm, Tue 6-9:30am, Thu 1-5:30pm and Sat 1 - 5:30pm
  • 30 hours per fortnight
  • 28 hours per fortnight

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans
  • Provide assistance with High Intensity daily personal activities
  • Facilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activities
  • Maintain thorough record keeping
  • Build positive relationships with clients, families and colleagues
  • Advocate for client choice and control

Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with people with disability
  • Previous experience working behaviours of concern
  • Prior experience working with high medical needs
  • Confidence in driving a wheelchair van
  • Manual Handling and Hoisting experience
  • An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
