About the Opportunity

The Senior Manager - Jobs, Education & Community Services is a key leadership role at BHAC, responsible for driving strategy, performance, and innovation across a broad portfolio of services. This includes Employment Services (RAES), Community Projects, Education Engagement & Attainment Initiative (EEAI), Money Management, and Community & Night Patrol.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and overseeing 6 program managers, the Senior Manager will lead annual business planning, drive cross-functional integration, and ensure contract performance across multiple government funding streams. This role is responsible for operational delivery that meets BHAC’s strategic goals of sustainable employment, community development, and cultural integrity.

You will manage budgets exceeding $10 million, lead a high-performing and culturally competent workforce, and build strong relationships with local communities, funding bodies, and government stakeholders. You will also champion BHAC’s cultural pillars, oversee compliance and quality frameworks, and identify opportunities for service growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability.

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape outcomes in one of Australia’s most dynamic Aboriginal organisations, ensuring that services are community-driven, contract-compliant, and aligned to the unique needs of remote homelands across Arnhem Land.

About You

You are an experienced leader who combines strong management capability with cultural respect and a genuine commitment to community-led outcomes. Your leadership style is collaborative and inclusive, with a focus on building trust and empowering your team to deliver results.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

Strategic planning and budget management experience, including the design, implementation, and oversight of services

Proven experience supervising staff and building strong, respectful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

A track record of engaging with communities to inform decision-making and ensure services meet real needs

Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with a results-oriented approach

Experience managing multiple contracts, meeting government compliance requirements, and delivering against KPI’s while balancing community priorities

You will demonstrate:

Respect for Aboriginal culture and protocols

Commitment to cultural safety and trauma-informed practice

Willingness to learn from Traditional Owners and Elders

Appreciation of the connection between culture, country, and well-being

And importantly, you’ll thrive in a remote community setting, with the adaptability and resilience to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of this environment.

This is a role for someone who understands that employment success is part of a bigger picture and driving long-term community wellbeing.

When you join BHAC, you will receive a host of great benefits, including:

Salary and Financial Benefits

Salary range of up to $165,000 per annum, depending on experience

12% superannuation

Generous salary packaging options are available due to BHAC’s not-for-profit (NFP) status, allowing for tax-free benefits on housing, meals and entertainment
