About the Role
The Practice Nurse is a vital member of our healthcare team, supporting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by providing culturally safe, holistic, and patient-centred care. This role combines clinic-based responsibilities with outreach services, including home visits and participation in mobile clinics through the outreach bus.
Working in close collaboration with General Practitioners, Aboriginal Health Workers, and other allied health staff, the Practice Nurse helps improve access to care, supports chronic disease management, and delivers preventative health and health promotion initiatives. A key focus of the role is managing recalls and follow-ups to ensure continuity of care and timely interventions for our community.
About You
Qualifications and Registrations:
Current registration as Registered Nurse with AHPRA and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience
Current accreditation as a nurse immuniser
Knowledge and skills:
Experience in primary health care, community health, or chronic disease management.
Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and a commitment to culturally safe and respectful practice.
Competence in immunisation administration and managing recalls.
Knowledge of cold chain management and infection prevention and control.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to travel for outreach services (home visits and GP bus).
What We Offer:
Competitive pay and conditions based on the Nurses Award Level 3 (paid above award based on experience and qualifications).
Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part- or Full-time employees.
