About the Role
This position provides timely and responsive community health nursing services that are culturally appropriate and considers the special needs of newly arrived refugees who settle in the Greater Shepparton region.
A key focus of the role is to support and strengthen the ability of individuals, families and refugee communities to improve health and wellbeing via initial needs identification, community based comprehensive assessment, and service referrals. The position adheres to an integrated service delivery model and works collaboratively with the multiple stakeholders of clinical and non-clinical staff, alongside interpreters.
The Enrolled Nurse will provide a range of primary care initiatives and direct client services, consistent with the strategic direction of PCC and in line with best practice standards.
The Refugee Health Nurse initiative understands health within a social model of health context, recognising that health outcomes are determined by a range of social, environmental and economic factors. Health promotion, prevention, early intervention and equity of access are necessary components of high-quality services that support the immediate and long-term health care of refugees.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Enrolled Nurse with a Current AHPRA Registration
- Well developed clinical skills and demonstrated ability to support a coordinated approach by working with a range of stakeholders to improve health outcomes as agreed with client.
- Demonstrated understanding of client need and delivery of excellent service.
- High level of energy, initiative, sound judgement and a sense of urgency as appropriate.
- Excellent communication skills including an ability to work within an inter-professional framework and collegiate manner.
- Experience using technology to complete daily work tasks
- Professional and personal alignment with Primary Care Connect core values
Desired
- Previous employment as a Refugee Nurse or in the asylum seeker service sector
- Experience working with clients from linguistic and culturally diverse backgrounds, and with clients who may have a disability and/or clients with limited literacy
