Who are we?
Mountain Goat are pioneers of Australia’s craft beer scene, with our first beer - Hightail Ale - hitting pubs back in 1997. Over twenty years on, we are still brewing beers unrestrained in flavour, technique and creativity. From Organic Steam Ale, one of Australia’s first organic beers, and the refreshing hot-weather favourite Summer Ale, through to the award-winning Rare Breeds and limited releases, there is a Mountain Goat beer for everyone.

Our venue is located in the heart of our brewery, hidden in the back streets of Richmond, Melbourne. The venue opens around the brewery production schedule, meaning for five days a week, we transform our space to welcome the community. We believe there is not better combination than expertly brewed beers paired with tasty tap room snacks and pizza. That’s where you come in…

The Role:
We’re on the lookout for a talented and driven Kitchen Manager to join our small Richmond team.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with the Venue Manager, leading kitchen operations and inspiring the wider hospitality team. You’ll thrive in an open kitchen as the heart of a community venue, where craft beer and exceptional pizza take the stage.

Responsibilities include:

Running all kitchen operations

Supervising, mentoring, and training additional kitchen staff required

Food prep, cooking, plating and designing the menu to complement the brewery space

Monitoring stock levels and ordering

Excellent cost control understanding and delivery; both in cost of goods and weekly casual wage costs

Driving a positive, collaborative, and safe workplace culture

What You’ve Got:

1-3 years’ experience in a professional kitchen

Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to inspire others

A genuine passion for food, especially food that pairs well with beer!

Ability to stay calm and think on your feet under pressure

Commitment to quality, consistency, and workplace safety

A can-do attitude, drive for continuous improvement, and positive overall outlook

This is a casual position, working across a 5-day roster including weekdays, weekends and nights. For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to go full time in the future.
