Mining Engineer – Yilgarn Iron Restart

About the Project
TSS is delighted to be partnering with Yilgarn Iron Investments on the restart of the Yilgarn Hub. The owner’s team is approximately 50 people covering all elements of the operation, including Koolyanobbing, Windarling, Parker Range, Mt Jackson, and Deception pits. This is a high-profile restart project where you will work alongside the owner’s team and contractors to deliver safe and efficient mining operations.

About the Role
The Mining Engineer will support operational and pit-level delivery, ensuring alignment with mine plans and production targets. You will work closely with contractors, manage day-to-day operational issues, and provide technical input into mine planning and grade control activities.

Key Responsibilities

Support mine planning, scheduling, and pit optimisation

Collaborate with contractors to ensure operational, safety, and environmental compliance

Provide technical guidance on mining methods, pit design, and grade control

Monitor production performance and recommend improvements

Conduct risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies are in place

Prepare reports and documentation for management and regulators

Assist with mobilisation and commissioning of mining equipment and processes

Skills & Experience

Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent

Proven open-cut iron ore experience is essential

Experience with mine planning software and reporting systems

Contractor management experience preferred

Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
