Our client is a leading Australian based unique non-bank lender looking for a skilled Legal Counsel to join their Legal department. In this role you will join an exciting, growing and unique organisation, specifically focused on supporting small to medium sized Australian businesses.

Position Description: Responsible for providing legal expert advice and guidance to several teams, including Business Financing and Small Business Lending. This includes advising on transactions, assisting on negotiations and settlements, and key internal and external stakeholder management.

Key Measurables:

Legal Advice - Providing expert legal advice on transactions, including compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.

Transactional Support - Collaborate with relevant teams to structure, negotiate and review documentation for the transactions they originate and manage.

Legal Risk Management - Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks, collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders and manage relationships.

Compliance - Comply and implement applicable governance, frameworks, policies and procedures

Essential Requirements:

Minimum 2 years PQE in-house or top tier law firm, ideally in banking and finance law

Exposure to business banking, corporate banking or trade finance

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively communicate complex legal matters

Excellent technical legal skills, including on drafting, negotiating and analytics

Work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
