About the Role

The Legal and Compliance Counsel will play a key role in providing legal advice and regulatory support to stakeholders across the business, helping to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.

Reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will work closely with the broader Legal and Compliance team on a wide range of legal, commercial and regulatory matters. Your day-to-day will be varied, hands-on, and collaborative, offering exposure across multiple business areas.

Key Responsibilities

Staying across legal and regulatory developments that impact our industry, and helping translate them into practical advice for the business

Managing our contract register, including reviewing and supporting supplier contracts, franchise agreements, and so forth

Reviewing marketing materials to ensure we meet our legal, regulatory and brand obligations

Responding to compliance queries, including managing the compliance inbox and provide timely and practical advice to the business

Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s compliance framework, policies, and procedures.

Assist the Senior Legal Counsel with the management of the broader legal and compliance team.

Collaborate proactively with stakeholders to anticipate needs and solve problems.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor of Laws and current practising certificate

Qualified solicitor with 3-4 years post admission experience, ideally combining exposure to both private practice and in-house legal environments.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining strong attention to detail

Strong verbal and communication skills, with confidence collaborating across departments and influencing stakeholders

Ability to draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts that align with organisational standards and risk appetite

Prior experience in the financial services sector, particularly consumer lending and the NCCP Act, is highly desirable.
