SUMMARY

Interim opportunity for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join a leading infrastructure services provider on an initial 3-month contract, with potential to extend to 6 months. Based in Sydney or Melbourne, the role involves tendering and contract negotiations across multiple sectors, with hybrid working available.

This organisation operates in the infrastructure and services sector, delivering support across multiple industries. It sustains assets, infrastructure, and facilities and provides integrated services, including environmental, energy, sustainable infrastructure solutions, and utilities services. With expertise in maintenance, engineering projects, and facilities management, the business is supported by a capable in-house legal function.

THE ROLE

You will provide interim legal support for increased workload, focusing on tenders and contract negotiations across multiple business units. This full-time role (4 days per week considered) runs for 3 months, with possible extension to 6 months, based in Sydney or Melbourne, with hybrid work.

Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts, including departures and tender documents.

Advise on contract terms and risk allocation for infrastructure services, water, energy, and environmental projects.

Support tender submissions, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Work with internal stakeholders to resolve contractual issues and negotiate with external parties.

Manage legal risks across operations, including O&M, engineering, asset management, facilities management and environmental services.

Contribute to legal team projects and initiatives during the interim period.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced commercial lawyer with expertise in tendering processes, contract review and negotiations. You can work in a fast-paced in-house environment and adapt quickly to support varied infrastructure and services projects.

Minimum 6+ years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally with prior in-house experience

Ability to review, draft and negotiate complex contracts, including departures and variations

Experience supporting infrastructure, utilities, energy, environmental services, or facilities management projects is advantageous.

Strong understanding of procurement and tendering processes

Skilled in stakeholder management and working across multidisciplinary teams

Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines

Flexible and adaptable, able to integrate quickly into a team and provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice

ON OFFER

Competitive remuneration package based on experience.

Initial 3-month contract with potential extension to 6 months.

Full-time preferred, with flexibility to consider 4 days per week.

Hybrid working arrangement – 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
