About the Opportunity

Our client is looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join their team and provide expert legal support across the business. This role ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations while delivering practical, commercial outcomes.

You’ll advise on contracts with customers and suppliers, support operational leaders, and assist the General Counsel and Company Secretary on governance and board matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide clear and practical legal advice across the business
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements
• Represent the organisation in legal proceedings with regulators and authorities
• Partner with leaders to identify and manage legal risks
• Prepare and review Board papers, agendas and minutes
• Monitor legal and regulatory changes and advise on impacts
• Manage external legal providers when required
• Contribute to the development of corporate policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Law degree with at least 5 years’ experience as a Legal Counsel or in a similar role
• Strong commercial acumen with excellent problem‑solving skills
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
• High attention to detail and strong execution skills
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with integrity

Desirable

• Experience in rail, transport, or mining industries
• Previous in‑house counsel experience
