Environmental Advisor – Yilgarn Hub Restart
About the Project
TSS are delighted to be partnering with Yilgarn Iron Investments on the restart of their Yilgarn Hub iron ore assets, including Koolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range. The project spans active mining, legacy disturbance, and new exploration, requiring practical, site-based environmental management across approvals, compliance, monitoring, and rehabilitation.
About the Role
We’re looking for a capable Environmental Advisor to be the on-site environmental lead across exploration programs, mining operations, and progressive rehabilitation. You’ll monitor and report on compliance, track disturbance, support approvals processes, and help manage native vegetation, flora, and fauna.
This is a hands-on role: one day you’ll be in the field with drill crews, the next inspecting landforms or vegetation regrowth. You’ll work closely with the environmental lead, approvals consultants, Traditional Owners, and the site team to ensure obligations are met safely, practically, and proactively.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled and ad hoc environmental monitoring across exploration, mining, and rehab areas — dust, water, fauna, and vegetation condition
Monitor and track native vegetation clearing to ensure compliance with permits and boundaries
Support flora and fauna management, including recording sightings, weed control, and feral animal tracking
Maintain environmental registers, compliance logs, and internal databases
Assist with clearing permit applications (NVCPs, PoWs), liaising with consultants and regulators
Support heritage coordination — mapping, access control, and clearance activities
Conduct rehabilitation inspections — erosion, landform stability, species regrowth, and photo monitoring
Contribute to environmental inductions and toolbox talks for site teams and contractors
What We’re Looking For
3–5 years’ experience in a site-based environmental role in mining, exploration, or civil construction
Strong knowledge of WA environmental legislation and processes (Part IV/V, NVCPs, MCPs, PoWs)
Hands-on field experience — identifying vegetation, tracking fauna, monitoring ground disturbance
Experience supporting clearing compliance and rehab performance tracking
Ability to work closely with operational teams and Traditional Owner representatives
Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, botany, land management, or similar
WA C-Class Driver’s Licence
Basic GIS/GPS or mapping skills advantageous
