About the role
The City of Sydney is seeking a talented Event Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our landmark venues.
As the Event Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of event operations, from meticulous planning and resource management to on-the-ground delivery. This is a hands-on role where your expertise in financial oversight, staff leadership, and problem-solving will be crucial to success. You'll ensure every event is seamless, safe, and aligned with the City's strategic vision.
Key responsibilities
Lead the planning and delivery of venue operations for all City-managed events, ensuring seamless, safe, and customer-focused service.
Manage and coordinate workforce planning, staff scheduling, training and recruitment with the Indoor Events Manager.
Manage and oversee all information, including gathering details related to the hirer’s event; the completion of quotes, contracting and invoices.
Plan and manage venue operational resources, including inventory control, maintenance scheduling, and supplier coordination.
Ensure accurate financial reconciliation of all event-related revenue and expenses.
What we're looking for
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
Demonstrated experience in managing events, staff, and contractors. You are a natural leader with a proven ability to deliver results.
A solid understanding of venue operations, including staging, production, emergency planning, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Licensee (LT) protocols.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to negotiate and build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Management, Business, Events, or Hospitality) or the ability to demonstrate equivalent skills gained from industry experience.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
