About the role:
We are looking for a Rating Officer to join the Finance team on a fixed term full time basis until the 26 of August 2026. As part of a large team, this position is responsible for contributing to the efficient, timely and accurate maintenance of Councils database.
Key accountabilities include but aren’t limited to:
- Main responsibilities of this position are, but not limited to, the legal recovery process, ratepayers’ correspondence and providing responses, daily account enquiries, pensioners/seniors' applications and rollovers (change of ownerships) in respect to rate collection;
- Assisting with issue of rate notices, levying of Interim rate notices and rate collection, in line with legislative requirements and Council Policies;
- Assisting with the effective maintenance of Council’s property database and rates valuation register;
- Levying and collecting rates in accordance with statutory legislation, the Pensioner Rebate and Deferments Act and Council Policies;
- Act as a first point of contact for customer service in relation to rates enquiries and liaise with the Valuer General's Office and other Local Authorities and key stakeholders;
- Assisting with the review and development of new processes; and
- Assisting with public consultations in line with Council's decisions.

The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience in customer service
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate

The salary for this position will be from $72,362.16 - $87,036.08 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
