Rowing Tasmania Inc (Rowing Tas) is the State Sporting Association responsible for the development, promotion and governance of the sport of rowing throughout Tasmania. Rowing Tas has 13 member clubs and supports approximately 13+ registered school rowing programs – with over 2700 active members, ages ranging from 12 – 80 years. Rowing Tas is a not-for-profit organisation which is governed by the Board of Rowing Tas. Rowing Tas is one of seven State/Territory Associations, which make up the membership of the national body, Rowing Australia.

Position Overview
The primary purpose of the Rowing Operations Coordinator is to support the delivery of objectives related to the Development and Operations portfolio, which is to oversee the growth and development of the sport of rowing in Tasmania and the smooth conduct of all Rowing Tasmania regattas and events.
The position is an enabling, facilitating and co-ordinating role and will work with the rowing community to coordinate the day-to-day delivery of Rowing Tas regattas and rowing development programs. It will support the delivery of club, coach and official development initiatives that enhance the recruitment and retention pathways for each of these stakeholder groups.
The position requires a highly motivated and energetic individual with strong communication, relationship building, event management and organisational skills. The ability to forge a close working relationship with Rowing Tasmania affiliated bodies, staff, volunteers and other key stakeholders will be essential to the successful achievement of this position's objectives.
Core Responsibilities
Actively support the delivery of Rowing Tasmania programs related to:
· Regatta and Rowing events coordination
· Maintenance of Member and Competition Data bases
· Coach education and professional development
· Officials recruitment, retention and development
· Membership growth, retention and development programs
· Other initiatives and projects as developed in conjunction with the CEO
Key Duties
Regatta / Rowing Event Management
· Coordinate the day-to-day operations of all Rowing Tas regattas
· Assist host clubs to implement additional regattas that contribute to the development of rowing and the objectives of the Association.
· Support schools to actively contribute and participate in the Rowing Tas Regatta Program
· Actively support the delivery of National regattas hosted in Tasmania
· Support the delivery of non-regatta events such as the Annual Awards, Open Days, development workshops, rowing camps, coaching courses, conferences and other professional development initiatives
Club Development
· Develop and foster effective working relationships with affiliated clubs to support the provision of best practices resources to enhance their capacity and capabilities
· Coordinate / facilitate the delivery of an annual series of professional development sessions/ workshops to help improve club governance and management
Coach Development
· Coordination of Rowing Australia Level 2 Coaching courses
· Facilitate the delivery of Coaches Conferences and training opportunities
· Support the delivery of the Coach Development outcomes aligned to the Rowing Development Plan
Officials and Volunteer Development
· Coordination of Rowing Australia Officiating courses and training workshops
· Coordination of Rowing Tas Officiating and volunteering duties at regattas
· Support the delivery of the Rowing Tas Boat Race Officials and Regatta Volunteer outcomes aligned to the Rowing Development Plan
Administration
· Represent Rowing Tasmania at relevant events (state/national/local) and on relevant committees/working groups as required;
· Support the use of the Revolutionise Sport Membership Management System;
· Assist other staff and portfolios within Rowing Tasmania if and when required
Any other duties within the Employee's capabilities and that are reasonable to expect the Employee to undertake as directed by the CEO from time to time

Selection Criteria
Essential Criteria
· Previous experience related to the delivery of sporting (or other) events;
· Previous experience or demonstrated knowledge in the delivery of sport development outcomes including programs focussed on participation, clubs, coaches, officials and/or volunteers;
· Strong communication (written and verbal) and relationship building skills;
· Effective time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks;
· A positive "can-do" attitude with the ability to be solutions focused
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management systems
· Ability to work autonomously as well as actively contribute within a small team environment;
· Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion;
· Open Drivers Licence
· Current Working with Vulnerable People (Children) Check (or ability to acquire prior to commencement in role)
· National Police Check (or ability to acquire prior to commencement in role)
· Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa
Desirable Criteria
· Knowledge and understanding of the sport of rowing
Term and Hours of work
The hours of work are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful applicant but will be a minimum of 0.8FTE.
The nature of the position will require out of hours and weekend work and regular travel to clubs and schools and industry events
Salary
Competitive Salary for the right applicant - $70 - $80k pro rata.
