Community & Recreation Coordinator
Permanent Full Time | Wangaratta, VIC | $97, 906 per annum plus super

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Community & Recreation Coordinator to lead strategic planning and project delivery that supports community wellbeing, inclusion and recreation across the Rural City of Wangaratta.
In this role, you’ll coordinate social planning and community activation initiatives, support local groups and clubs, and foster partnerships that enable everyone in our community to engage, prosper, be supported and grow.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of policies, masterplans and tools for integrated community and social planning
Deliver projects that respond to evolving social issues and foster collaboration across sectors
Coordinate support services for community groups and recreation clubs, including grants and skill development
Build and maintain strong networks with community organisations, government agencies and stakeholders
Represent Council on key partnerships and advisory committees
Provide advice to internal teams to support community wellbeing outcomes
Drive continuous improvement in services delivered by the Community & Recreation team
Lead and support grant opportunities aligned with Council strategic plans
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Community Development, Recreation or a related field, or substantial relevant experience
Proven experience in strategic planning, community development and recreation services
Strong understanding of government infrastructure networks and funding opportunities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, contracts and community initiatives
Experience in grant writing and policy development
Sound organisational and time management skills

The Rural City of Wangaratta was formed from the merger of the City of Wangaratta, the Shires of Oxley and Wangaratta and parts of the Shires of Beechworth, Benalla and Yarrawonga. Originally known as the Shire of Milawa when the municipality was created on 18 November 1994 it was renamed the Rural City of Wangaratta on 29 June 1995.
