About the role

We are seeking a highly organised and skilled part time Bookkeeper / Financial Officer to join our team at Index Medicolegal in Spring Hill, QLD. This is a casual role, offering flexibility and the opportunity to take on a variety of financial and administrative tasks. As a key member of our accounting team, you will play a vital role in supporting the overall financial management and smooth operation of our business.

What you'll be doing

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries

Preparing and processing payroll for our team of administrative and contracting staff

Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, statements and budgets.

Preparation of special purpose financial statements for Board Meetings

Liaising with external accountants and auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations

Identifying opportunities for process improvements and contributing to the overall efficiency of our financial operations

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within a professional services or small business environment

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping best practices

Proficiency in using Xero accounting software.

Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work

Hybrid role, working mostly remotely with some in office time.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
