Role Description

The Paint Line Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the powder coating / finishing line. Reporting to senior manufacturing management, the role will manage staff, production, process control, safety and quality to ensure the coating facility operates efficiently, meets product specifications, and delivers on client expectations. The ideal candidate will be a specialist in powder coating with strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge and a track record in aluminium or steel industry (or automotive) finishing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the daily operations of the powder coat / finishing line, ensuring scheduled throughput and on-time delivery.

Lead, mentor and develop the paint line team: operators, technicians, maintenance, quality control.

Maintain process control: pretreatment, coating application, curing / baking, inspection, any pre- or post-treatments.

Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations (including chemical handling, waste disposal, emissions, etc.).

Monitor quality assurance and quality control, ensuring coated surfaces meet visual, adhesion, durability and specification standards.

Continuously improve the process: identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, suggest and implement improvements to reduce cost, improve quality or throughput.

Oversee maintenance of equipment: preventative maintenance schedules, repairs, calibration.

Liaise with production planning, procurement, customer service / specifications to ensure the correct material inputs (powder, primers, pretreatment chemicals etc.), correct schedules and colour consistency.

Manage inventory of consumables (powder, maskings, solvents, filters etc.), and ensure proper storage and handling.

Maintain records and reporting: production metrics, downtime, quality rejects, safety incidents.

Ensure training and competency of staff in coating techniques, safety, and quality procedures.

Candidate Requirements

Substantial experience in powder coating operations, ideally in aluminium or steel finishing, or automotive paint/plating/finishing.

Demonstrated leadership in managing teams in a manufacturing / finishing environment.

Strong technical knowledge of coating chemistry, surface preparation, powder application, curing, adhesion, specifications, colour matching.

Solid understanding of safety, environmental, chemical regulations relevant to finishing / coating lines.

Excellent problem-solving skills, process improvement mindset.

Good communication skills, ability to liaise with cross-functional teams.

Relevant qualifications or training in coating technology, materials science, engineering or similar would be advantageous.

Salary and Benefits

Base $100k - $110k | 12% Super
