The City of Canning is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Weighbridge Clerk to support the operations of our Resource Recovery and Waste Transfer Station in Canning Vale. This role is vital to ensuring accurate waste tracking, excellent customer service, and smooth administrative support for our Waste team.
Reporting to the Coordinator Resource Recovery, you’ll be responsible for operating the weighbridge system, managing customer interactions, and supporting the Waste team with administrative tasks. You’ll help maintain compliance with licensing requirements and contribute to the City’s commitment to sustainable waste management.
In this role, you will undertake duties such as:
Operate weighbridge systems to accurately record waste transactions
Deliver courteous and professional service to internal and external customers
Respond to enquiries via phone, email, and other channels
Maintain records, databases, and spreadsheets for the Waste Reduction team
Monitor stock levels of bins, safety equipment, and consumables
Assist with purchasing, toolbox meetings, and reporting
Process customer payments
Monitor GPS systems and report operational issues
Support the segregation and monitoring of hazardous and recyclable materials
Ensure compliance with site licensing and safety protocols
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong administrative, time management, and organisational skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
Register/Point of Sale experience and basic computer/data entry skill
Willingness to work a roster that includes weekends and public holidays
Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)
Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Experience in waste and weighbridge operations
‘C’ class drivers licence

$79,830 per annum + super ($40.40 per hour / $1,535.20 per week) + penalties for all overtime hours worked, when rostered on weekends and public holidays
