About the role
A great opportunity is now available for an experienced Media and Communications professional to hit the ground running in the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Corporate Affairs division.
Reporting to the Manager Media and Communications, you will have a balance of internal and external responsibilities. Internally, the Media and Communications Advisor creates CEO and executive communications and works across the NHVR’s business areas to assist with communications needs. Externally, you will be responsible for responding to media enquiries and producing media releases and media alerts and producing our industry and local government e-newsletters.

This is a temporary position until September 2026 working on a full-time basis during the period, based in Newstead’s vibrant Gasworks precinct – close to transport, cafes and end of trip facilities. We are also willing to consider applicants based in Adelaide or Melbourne. Being a communications role, there may be a requirement to undertake occasional on-call work outside of business hours.
About You
With tertiary qualifications in media, communications or a related discipline, you will have foundational experience working in a similar role. Social media experience is not required for the position, however experience in the use of Adobe editing software and media monitoring platforms will be highly regarded!
You are comfortable working independently and enjoy using your interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, as well as to manage media enquiries.
Pairing your strong attention to detail with excellent time management skills, you thrive under tight timeframes and can effectively undertake a diverse range of multiple concurrent projects.
Key to the position is the ability to jump straight in, adapt to a fast-faced environment and learn quickly, to work across our upcoming events and campaigns.
