About the Role

Are you passionate about protecting people and managing built assets sustainably?

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is looking for a highly motivated Asbestos Coordinator to join the People and Organisational Development team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, this role is essential in managing and coordinating PTA’s asbestos management program, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining accurate records, managing contractors, and supporting safe work practices across all PTA sites.

Coordinate asbestos inspections, re-inspections, and maintain the Asbestos Directory and site Asbestos registers.

Oversee, report and continuously improve PTA’s asbestos management plan and associated activities.

Manage asbestos-related contracts, monitor expenditure, and ensure contractor compliance.

Review permit-to-work applications and coordinate responses to unexpected asbestos finds.

Prepare and deliver reports on asbestos program progress and contractor performance.

Liaise with internal teams and external providers to manage asbestos risks and provide training.

About You!

To excel in this role, you will possess the following core competencies:

A minimum of a certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety or related/ equivalent discipline.

Significant knowledge of the WA Health and Safety legislation and asbestos related Code of Practice for governance and compliance purposes.

Demonstrated experience in coordinating asbestos management plans for large or complex asset portfolios, subject to third party audit.

Strong background in procuring and managing environmental consultants, with excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with stakeholders.

Highly developed skills in analysing data, identifying risks, and providing sound recommendations for asbestos management.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and apply advanced computer skills across databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
