About the Role
The Health Information Manager is based at Thomas Embling Hospital, Yarra Bend Road, Fairfield.
Inpatient Services at Thomas Embling Hospital (T.E.H.) is provided within a high-security forensic hospital. Primarily designed to facilitate the provision of assessments, acute or continuing care and treatment for patients from the criminal justice system.
The Health Information Manager is responsible for the operational management of the Health Information Service at Thomas Embling Hospital. Managing a team of Administration and Ward Clerk Staff, the position ensures that an efficient, effective and timely Health Information Service is provided across the Inpatient Service.
As the Health Information Manager, you will:
- Provide HIM leadership across a range of complex programs and varied Inpatient Service staff.
- Provide leadership and support to the Health Information workforce at Thomas Embling Hospital.
- Work collabratively with the HIM Team at Forensicare and contribute to the strategic planning and policy development relating to Health Information Services.
- Manage medico-legal requests.
- Ensure compliance with the Public Records Office Retention & Disposal Schedule and other relevant Australian Standards pertaining to health information.
- Develop and maintain a CMI issues regsiter and KPI as part of the role of CMI Co-Ordinator for Thomas Embing Hospital.
About You:
- Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia.
- Previous experience managing and developing a Health Information Service Team.
- Previous coding experience and meeting coding deadlines, with a sound knowledge of Australian and Victorian Coding Standards.
- Previous experience with Rapid/CMI, Patient Administration Systems, Scanned or Electronic Health Records
- Demonstrated sound knowledge and understanding of relevant mental illness and criminal
- justice system legislation, in particular the Mental Health Act 2014, Health Records Act 2001 and the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
