Period of Appointment
Fixed-term for 24 months
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Undertake research, investigations, and analysis into legal and policy matters, including in relation to civil claims against the State of Tasmania.
- Provide authoritative advice and recommendations on complex matters associated with legal and policy issues relating to the Department of Justice.
- Regularly liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including officers within Tasmanian Government Departments, independent statutory offices, and external parties.
- Contribute to the development of policy and the implementation of relevant projects undertaken by the Department of Justice.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned, that are within the capacity, qualification and experience expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
Desirable Requirements
- A degree in Law from a recognised tertiary institution

The following checks are to be conducted:
- Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
- Disciplinary action in previous employment.
