About the opportunity:
Are you passionate about renewable energy and driving impactful change for communities? The Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to lead the delivery of the Shared Energy Storage Program, a transformative initiative co-designed with the Department for Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the $100 million Community Solar Banks program.
This project aims to reduce commercial, financial, and technological barriers to unlock access to solar, battery, and energy-sharing technologies for lower-income households living in strata title accommodation.
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, monitoring, delivery, and evaluation of this strategic initiative, ensuring quality outcomes are achieved on time and within budget. You will also oversee governance, compliance, and reporting in alignment with DEM's Project Management Framework.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of the Shared Energy Storage Program.
Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of key milestones.
Coordinate multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams to achieve program outcomes.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and change control processes.
Implement quality control, administrative processes, and continuous improvement strategies.
Engage and influence stakeholders, including approval authorities and government representatives.
Provide high-level support and strategic advice to senior leadership and government officials.
Represent DEM on relevant committees and working groups.

About You
You are a strategic thinker and experienced project manager with a passion for renewable energy and community impact. You bring:
Proven experience in project planning, governance, and reporting.
Strong procurement and contract management skills.
Ability to manage resources, budgets, and risks effectively.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Analytical skills to evaluate risks and opportunities and recommend solutions.
A collaborative mindset and ability to lead in complex environments.
Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive issues.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience in strategic project management and delivery.
Experience in deployment and/or contracting models of consumer energy resources (CER), specifically residential solar and storage.
Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
Ability to operate in complex political and policy contexts.
High-level written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:
Desirable: A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Planning and/or similar discipline and experience is highly desirable.
Remuneration:
ASO7 salary range $108,109 - $116,864 per annum + superannuation
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week
Special Conditions:
This is a contract/term vacancy up to 30/9/2027
The role will involve travel (primarily intra-state)
