  • Located at Sydney's Iconic - Taronga Zoo, Cammeraigal Country
  • Temporary full-time 12-month contract.
  • TCSA Salaried Award, Clerk Grade 6, Annual base salary $107,131 + 12% superannuation

Taronga Zoo, Cammeraigal Country, is looking for a driven Program Co-ordinator (Indigenous Indentified) to join the team! This is an extremely unique and exciting role - bringing together the worlds of Wildlife, Conservation and Education!

As part of the Education Division at Taronga, you will be part of a skilled and experienced team of Educators and Program Co-ordinators who create and deliver a range of programs for young people and the community.

Supporting Taronga's Commitment to Country, this position is targeted to providing opportunities for Indigenous employment with the goal of attracting and employing Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and developing new ways to engage and retain our people.

About the Role…

To develop innovative and exciting Zoo experiences that drive youth engagement to actively participate in community, cultural and conservation programs at Taronga.

Key Accountabilities…

  • Deliver and development of the Burbangana Zoo Awareness program, focusing on cultural, educational and personal development of its participants who are high needs, at risk, young people referred to the program by Department of Family and Community Services.
  • Promote the Burbangana Zoo Awareness program to the wider community, youth, health and Government organisations to assisting in achieving targets and ongoing funding.
  • Lead, mentor and support the Burbangana Support Officer ensuring Key Performance Indicators are met and regular Individual Performance reviews are conducted in line with HR policy and procedures.
  • Develop cultural programs for students, zoo guests and the community.
  • Communicate Taronga's education and conservation messages both internally and externally, ensuring all communications align with Taronga's values to inspire change in accordance with Taronga's vision and strategic pillars.
  • Develop strong relationships with representatives at all levels of management throughout the organisation to support the achievement of business strategy, vision, mission and purpose.
  • Work effectively as a member of a high performing team, leading Taronga in its achievement and outcomes of its Commitment to Country.
  • Comply with and report any Work, Health and Safety incidents in line with Taronga's Work, Health and Safety Charter.

About You…

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • Experience in developing and delivering programs for vulnerable young people.
  • Experience in developing and delivering programs with First Nations Peoples and Communities.
  • Hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate or Occupational First Aid Certificate.
  • Hold a current NSW Drivers License or ability to have existing license formally recognized.
  • Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
