We are seeking a dedicated Identified DFSV Trauma Counsellor to join our client’s organisation, providing trauma-informed support to individuals and families affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence.
The organisation is committed to feminist, holistic care that empowers women and promotes healing, cultural responsiveness, and social justice. Working closely with the Head of Programs, you’ll help drive clinical objectives while fostering recovery, collaboration, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build collaborative partnerships with external providers and agencies, focusing on primary health care, recovery, and healing in the DFSV sector.
- Deliver client-centred, trauma-informed assessments and therapeutic interventions to individuals and families affected by DFSV.
- Work with internal teams, including program managers and lived experience participants, to advocate for women impacted by DFSV.
- Support policy development, service planning, and evaluation to improve organisational practices.
- Collaborate across the health and welfare sectors to implement best practice systems and protocols for intervention and recovery.
- Maintain accurate client records, conduct 12–20 weekly client sessions depending on schedule, and ensure timely documentation.
- Participate in internal/external supervision and reflective practice to support clinical effectiveness and professional growth.
- Uphold all legal, ethical, and registration requirements, and contribute to advocacy and a positive, productive team environment.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to victim-survivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV), including group work and casework.
- Proven ability to provide culturally responsive counselling, particularly to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, with insight into intergenerational trauma and the stolen generations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and diverse workplace.
- Capacity to build effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to feminist, anti-racist, and socially just practice frameworks, aligned with the organisation’s vision, mission, and values.
- Dedication to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
