  • Location Parramatta with flexibility to work from other office locations
  • Temporary 12-month part-time opportunity (21 hours per week) ending September 2026
  • Salary Clerk Grade 7/8 - $113,574 to $125,720 plus superannuation and leave loading

Your role

Homes NSW is seeking a skilled Media Advisor to join our Public Affairs and Engagement team on a part-time basis for a 12-month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong media experience—whether from a newsroom or media management background—who thrives in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment.

You'll be part of a passionate and highly capable media team, helping to shape and deliver strategic media communications that support Homes NSW's public engagement and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver proactive media materials including strategies, releases, statements, and mitigation plans.
  • Manage reactive media enquiries and issues, preparing timely and accurate responses.
  • Coordinate media event logistics to ensure strategic objectives are met.
  • Create and edit content for various channels including media packs, social media, websites, and internal communications.
  • Monitor media trends and provide insights and recommendations to manage reputational risks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and service providers to deliver high-quality, audience-relevant communications.
  • Provide support across the broader media and communications team.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in a newsroom or media management environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Availability for occasional on-call and out-of-hours work, including participation in a rotating on-call roster (typically one week every 4-5 weeks).
  • Willingness to travel for media events and content capture.
  • Flexibility to work from home, with regular online meetings and at least two days per week in the office or as required for press events.
