About the role

As a Trade Assistant at Heavy Logistics and Mechanical Pty Ltd, you will play a vital role in supporting the company's operations in Bowen and surrounding areas, North Queensland. In this position, you will work alongside skilled tradespeople to ensure the smooth and efficient maintenance of heavy machinery and equipment. Your contribution will be crucial in keeping our operations running safely and effectively.

What you'll be doing

Assisting tradespeople such as mechanics, boilermakers and fitters in the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery

Performing general labouring tasks, including cleaning, machinery operations, and assisting tradespeople.

Ensuring the proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment

Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment

Participating in training and development opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge

Collaborating effectively with the wider team to contribute to the success of the mining operations

What we're looking for

Relevant experience in a trade assistant or labouring role, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector

Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow instructions and work plans (desirable)

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Commitment to workplace safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks

Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends

Pay Rates:

$35/hr offsite (pending qualifications)

$55/hr onsite

This is an immediate start, full-time permanent position (for the right candidate), with long-term opportunities and a supportive, team-based work environment

Manual Drivers Licence
