About the role

We are seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to join our vibrant team at Barlume Cafe in North Sydney, NSW. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring consistently high-quality dishes and an exceptional dining experience for our customers. What you'll be doing

Manage and lead a team of skilled chefs and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional meals

Develop and refine the restaurant's menu, incorporating seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients

Ensure consistency and quality in food preparation, presentation and service

Monitor food costs and inventory to maintain profitability and efficiency

Liaise with suppliers to source high-quality, fresh produce and ingredients

Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment in the kitchen

Provide training and development opportunities for kitchen staff to enhance their skills

Comply with all food safety and health regulations

What we're looking for

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary role within a restaurant or hotel setting

Formal culinary training or a recognized qualification in the hospitality industry

Expertise in a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines, with a strong understanding of flavor profiles and food trends

Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle challenges in a fast-paced environment

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with customers, suppliers, and the wider team
